About Our AV BOX
T-Top Cajons
The T-Top consists of two main parts. The T-shape box that houses the full sound palette and the top surface that caters for the bright tones and nuances of the individual player.
The body is made of the highest quality 12 mm Birch ply. CNC machines are used to cut the materials to exacting standards. They are then assembled together to form the trademark T-shape and are inspected to ensure consistency in tone and sound projection.
The top surface is then finished with a 3mm veneer of various finishes as preferred and is sealed to ensure the bright sounds and crisp response of the internal snare system that drives the sound of this remarkable instrument.
Every T-Top sports a laser engraved front facing logo, resembling the patented design of the AV Box. Finally your T-Top is finished with a layer of wood sealant and coated with a clear lacquer to enhance the natural grain of the Birch ply.

I have a T-Top made by Andries Visser, AV BOX CAJONS #022 made in 2019, with a built in phantom powered preamp and microphone. Takes a standard balanced mic lead. The T-Top is my favorite go to, take anywhere play anywhere instrument. It has the most amazing kick and snare sounds. It can be heard acoustically but it sounds fantastic when played through the PA. The T-Top is like a full drum kit which is comfortably played on your lap. No more back ache like the conventional Cajon. I have full control. It leaves my hands free to be creative with rhythm. It has the most amazing tones & colors. It's versatile and you can add sounds at will. My creativity really comes out when I play this T-Top with a band. I take it to all my gigs. The bag has enough space for a few extra percussion accessories like a tambourine and shakers which gives my feet something to do!”

Incredible Natural Sound
The T-Top kicks out an unbelievable internal 110 Spl(Dbl) which enhances the mid and low frequencies that form the full E spectrum of tones required
Durable Materials
The T-Tops are completed with a double layer of satin wood sealer that provides an appealing finish and prevents any air leaks which could potentially affect the sound of the drum.
Accessories / Add-ons
Canvas carry bags are designed with a soft inlay material and are perfectly suited to protect the T-Tops integrity with added internal compartments for other percussion instruments. The external built-in pickup microphone can be fitted on order.
